Hello,

We’re a family of four from Jersey, Channel Islands with a love for exploration and travel (mainly Van life), whether by plane or tackling the open road in our beloved camper-van. We hope we can bring you along on our adventures as we juggle travelling with infants with our 09:00 – 17:00’s. We hope to help others with the stigma of travelling with infants and also help others with their van life journeys through itineraries, gear posts and travel tips. We are by no means experts and we are learning as we go. Its all part of the journey.

Our Journey…

For the purpose of this website/blog, we will start in 2015, just the two of us. Following an unexpected redundancy we hopped on our first flight to Bangkok to start our backpacking phase through Asia. Our Asia backpacking trip took us through Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Loas, Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia in roughly 9 months before heading to Australia on a working visa (11 months) and New Zealand (1 month).  Australia was where our love for Van life started. We could have lived this life forever and we still regret ever leaving Australia but sadly, our backpacking trip had to come to an end, we sold our Van and headed home.

After a few months of missing Van life we decided to buy our second  camper in 2017. A brand new VW California Ocean. We waited 9 months for it to arrive but it was  worth the wait. The next 5 years were spent road tripping (when possible due to our jobs) through England, Wales, Scotland, France, Switzerland, Spain & Portugal.

In 2021 we welcomed our son into the world and it was not long before we introduced him to his first van holidays in places like Wales, Cornwall, France & Spain. Shortly after, in 2023, we welcomed our daughter and  with the new edition we found the VW to be just a little too small. Having to move bulky car seats before making the bed in the VW ended up feeling more like a chore so we made a very rash decision one holiday to upgrade and joined another waiting list for a new van however while we waited, the four of us jetted off on a 3 month trip to Paris, Hong Kong, Thailand and Singapore.

This brings us to today, please join our journey.

Van Life History

Mitsubishi Express – 2015

Where it all began! The start of a new passion. The beginning of endless road trips and countless adventures. This is where our van life started. While backpacking in 2015 we stopped in Cairns to start our 1 year working holiday Visa. We knew we wanted transport to give us more freedom to explore and also cut down on accommodation costs. We had saved a portion of our money to allow us to buy a vehicle. We had two options, buy from a fellow backpacker (there is an abundance of vehicles for sale on hostel noticeboards in major areas as people need to sell their car before leaving Australia) or buy from a company directly (there are many companies in Australia who rent Campers/vehicles who also sell/buy second hand vehicles). We ended up buying our Mitsubishi from Traveler’s Autobarn in Cairns.

If you would like any information about buying or travelling Australia in a Camper, please get in touch. We are happy to help!

VW California Ocean – 2017

Our dream became a reality. We had arrived back from our backpacking journey and settled into regular 09:00 – 17:00’s. It wasn’t long before our love of Van life and travel took over and we took the plunge and bought a brand new VW California Ocean. We waited 9 long months for it to arrive but it was worth every minute. This Van took us across Scotland, to the Algarve in Portugal, on a road trip around Switzerland and down the east coast of Spain to name just a few.

The decision to upgrade to a bigger van was a very quick, and not a very thought through decision. But aren’t all the best decisions like this? In 2024 (after 8 months waiting) we finally had our new van exported from the UK (Leisure First) to Jersey in the Channel Islands with the help of a local dealer. We are extremely excited with all the adventures we have planned in this van and will keep you posted on our journey.
